Looking every inch the Duchess, Kate stepped out for her first solo engagement. It was a private dinner for Prince Charles' charity, In Kind Direct which helps to redistribute surplus goods from manufacturers and retailers to UK charities. The Prince had been scheduled to host the event at Clarence House but had to pull out to fly to Riyadh following the death of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia. But the Prince left hosting duties in more than capable hands and it seems like all that 'Princess training' is paying off. Robin Boles, chief executive of the charity, said: "We were delighted that the Duchess was able to step in at such short notice after our founder was unexpectedly called away. The Duchess hosted a very special evening with absolute professionalism and charm."
The floor-length dove grey dress was id-ed by Kate fan Leila Tannaz via What Kate Wore. The stunning silk chiffon dress was from Amanda Wakeley's Autumn Winter 2006 collection and featured an empire line embellishment underneath the bust and two silver embellished straps on each side which crossed over. Well done to Leila for her investigating. Kate's crowning glory was an elegant half-up, half-down do which the Daily Mail is reporting also used hair extensions.
